Lughnasadh: A WNC Pagan Choir Event

A Singing and Ritual for the Beginning of Harvest

Lughnasadh is a pre-Christian Irish holiday that historically signaled a time of peace between warring communities, friendly competitions & games, & the maturity of the first grains of the fall. Literally meaning “the games of Lugh,” this holiday is said to have been founded by the deity Lugh for his mother Tailtiu, who heroically died after clearing the plains of Ireland for agriculture.

At this event, join members of the WNC Pagan Choir as we learn several songs in celebration of the harvest, Lugh and the grain mothers of mythology. We’ll focus on easy-to-learn parts songs that produce powerful and mesmerizing harmonies, while enjoying percussion from Jay Beck! We’ll weave folklore and ritual into our experience along the way.

  • When: Sunday, August 3rd, 3:30-6:00pm
  • Location: Weaverville Yoga, 3 Florida Avenue, Weaverville, NC
  • What to Bring: We’ll have more suggestions for ritual items etc. closer to the event
  • Sliding Scale Payment: $10-$40.
